  • Prescribing and Dispensing Opioids: Changes That Take Effect July 1, 2017

    June 22, 2017

    SEA 226, which takes effect July 1, limits all opioid prescriptions for children to a 7 day supply, and the first prescription prescribed by a provider for an opioid for an adult patient to a 7 day supply.  SEA 226 provides exceptions for the treatment of cancer, MAT, palliative care and professional judgment.  

  • Recent Rocky Mountain Spotted Fever Diagnosis

    The Indiana State Department of Health (ISDH) was recently notified of a fatality in a pediatric patient with a diagnosis of Rocky Mountain spotted fever. Due to the interest in this case, the ISDH would like to provide information on the clinical presentation, diagnosis, and treatment of Rocky Mountain spotted fever, along with some additional recommendations.
