The Ohio Academy of Family Physicians, in partnership with the Indiana, Maryland, Minnesota, and Wisconsin chapters of the American Academy of Family Physicians, is excited to announce a virtual, American Board of Family Medicine (ABFM)-endorsed Family Medicine Certification knowledge self-assessment (KSA) group study (formerly known as a SAM) focused on cerebrovascular disease. Set for Sunday, October 29, beginning at 6 p.m. EST (typically takes 4 hours for completion) this program is limited to the first 15 members who register.

This innovative program will use a robust web-based system that will allow family physician learners from across the country the opportunity to complete the KSA while engaging their peers and an expert content leader from a location of their choosing.

This virtual learning session offers an innovative method for delivering a KSA nationwide to a large group of physician learners at the same time. A completed KSA will provide 10 certification points and 8 live CME credits toward ABFM certification requirements. Application for live continuing medical education (CME) credit has been filed with the American Academy of Family Physicians. Determination of credit is pending.

How Does it Work:
The day of, participants will use an online polling system to work through KSA questions with our cerebrovascular disease expert.  Our main goal is to pass the exam, with an expert speaker offering assistance when questions arise. First, questions will be displayed giving participants approximately 30 seconds to respond (time varies based on speed of participant response). Next, results will be displayed and discussed. Finally, answers will be submitted as a group and individuals will be credited for completion of the knowledge self-assessment.

To Participate You Will Need:
To participate, you will need a computer (desktop or laptop) with a reliable high speed internet connection, and a completed registration.  You will also need a telephone and/or speaker capabilities, but a microphone is NOT needed as all lines will be muted.

ABFM Information:
If this is your first step in the Family Medicine Certification process, please be sure to contact the ABFM (877-223-7437) and obtain your ABFM ID.  If you do not recall your password, please use the “Help! I forgot my password and/or username” link on the ABFM website to reset your password. If you have any questions about how many Family Medicine Certification activities are required for you at this time and/or when you need to complete them, the ABFM can assist you.

The ABFM charges a Certification Process Fee; the amount varies depending on your re-election cycle. This fee is in addition to the cost to participate in our program. You do not need to pay the Certification Process Fee in advance to earn credit for participation in the program.

This KSA Session is Groundbreaking!
This virtual learning session offers an innovative method for delivering a KSA nationwide to a large group of physician learners at the same time. A completed KSA will provide 10 certification points and 8 live CME credits toward ABFM certification requirements.
