Adam Amos, MD, Named Outstanding Resident by Indiana Family Physicians

Adam Amos, MD, of Greencastle, Indiana, has been named the Indiana Academy of Family Physicians’ (IAFP) 2015 Outstanding Resident Award winner. The Outstanding Resident Award is presented annually to a family medicine resident who demonstrates exceptional interest and involvement in family and exemplifies the qualities of a family physician. He was honored with the award at the French Lick Resort in French Lick, IN on Saturday, July 25, 2015.

Dr. Amos completed his residency at Indiana University Health Ball Memorial Hospital Family Medicine in Muncie this summer, where he received specialized training in outpatient minor surgical procedures, high-risk obstetric care, and colonoscopy. He earned his medical degree at IU School of Medicine where he was an Indiana Primary Care Scholar. He has a BS in Biology from IUPUI.

Since 2013 he has worked at the Southway Urgent Care facility and the Independent Disability Examiners & Associates. He has been Chief Resident since 2014, and has been a member of the Graduate Medical Education Committee. He has been on the Ball Memorial Hospital Safety and Quality Council since 2013. He is the “go to guy“ for all things technology, and created a survival guide app for residents.

Since 2013 he has participated in six short-term medical missions to Nicaragua, Mexico, Peru, Kenya, and twice to Guatemala. His time on these missions was spent providing care to underserved locals and teaching medical students.

To quote from one letter of nomination, “Adam excels in compassion, relationships, communication, medical knowledge, critical thinking, teaching and leadership.” It is quite evident that service is what will continue to guide him throughout his career as a family physician.

The Indiana Academy of Family Physicians is a membership organization composed of family physicians, family medicine residents, and medical students that reside and/or are licensed to practice in Indiana. The mission of the Indiana Academy of Family Physicians is to promote and advance family medicine in order to improve the health of Indiana.
