Governor Pence Announces Indiana Will Continue Healthy Indiana Plan

The federal government has approved the extension of Indiana’s current Healthy Indiana Plan (HIP).  The HIP program was set to expire at the end of this year – the extension means that most individuals currently enrolled in the HIP program will either keep their coverage through 2014, or receive coverage via the federally managed health insurance exchange, or “marketplace”.  With this approval on the books, It is expected that the Governor, Secretary of FSSA and the federal government will move on to negotiations regarding the use of the HIP program for coverage expansion under the Affordable Care Act.  Read the Governor’s press release here:
