New Prenatal Diagnosis Requirement

HEA 1093 UPDATE: ISDH INFORMATIONAL SHEET ON PRENATAL DIAGNOSES NOW AVAILABLE

Effective July 1, 2015, a new law (via House Enrolled Act 1093) went into effect that will require health care facilities or providers to provide certain “written information” to expectant parents when they receive a prenatal diagnosis of Down syndrome or any other disorder diagnosed prenatally.  The written information, which may be provided by state and local advocacy organizations for people with intellectual and developmental disabilities, aims to assist families in obtaining support services for their children and has been made available by the Indiana State Department of Health at the following website: http://www.in.gov/isdh/26701.htm.
